Veterinary Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant (Cross-Trained Position)
Marbletown Animal Hospital is seeking a motivated and compassionate team member to join our busy four-doctor practice in a cross-trained role as both a Veterinary Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both client interaction and hands-on patient care while contributing to a positive, fast-paced hospital environment.
Position Overview
This role supports both front desk operations and clinical patient care, helping maintain an organized, efficient, and welcoming hospital environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable multitasking between reception and assistant responsibilities.
Reception Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming environment
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain a positive client experience
- Manage scheduling, phone calls, emails, and text communications, including screening service needs
- Process payments for visits, medications, and products
- Maintain accurate client records and enter service information into practice management software
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and presentable
- Help resolve client concerns in a professional and efficient manner
- Support overall front desk workflow and daily hospital operations
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient restraint and handling
- Support exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Prepare exam rooms, surgical areas, and equipment
- Collect and prepare lab samples as directed
- Clean, organize, and maintain hospital and treatment areas
- Provide compassionate care and comfort to patients
- Support overall hospital workflow and team efficiency
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience preferred but not required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Computer savvy and comfortable learning practice management software
- Friendly, positive attitude with the ability to remain calm in fast-paced situations
- Comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments
- Organized, dependable, and team-oriented
- Ability to multitask and adapt throughout the day
Work Hours
- Open to Full-Time or Part-Time
- Must be available to work at least one Saturday per month
Hospital Hours
- Monday & Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Wednesday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Compensation & Benefits
- $18–$22/hour based on experience
- Paid Time Off (PTO)for full-time employees
