Lead Veterinary Technician
Glen Ellyn Animal Hospital – Glen Ellyn, IL

Are you a skilled veterinary technician ready to step into a leadership role where your voice matters and your impact is visible?

At Glen Ellyn Animal Hospital, we’re looking for a Lead Technician to help guide our team, elevate patient care, and support the continued growth of a collaborative, long-standing hospital. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring others while still staying hands-on in medicine.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

Established, Supportive Team
Our team is tenured, collaborative, and genuinely enjoys working together. Several team members have been with us for years—creating a strong, stable foundation you can step into and help lead.

Opportunity to Lead & Grow

We’re looking for someone who wants to make an impact—help develop standards of care, support team training, and bring leadership to the technician floor.

Variety in Medicine
We’re a general practice that also sees exotics—especially rabbits—giving you the chance to expand your skillset beyond routine care.

Community-Focused Culture
We stay connected to our community through local rescue partnerships and events like our annual Santa photos fundraiser.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll support both patient care and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Administering vaccines and injectable medications
  • Patient restraint and nursing care
  • Bandage changes, ear cleanings, anal gland expression
  • Supporting and mentoring technicians and assistants
  • Helping implement and maintain standards of care

Schedule

  • Full-time: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
  • Rotating weekends (1–2 per month, with weekday hours adjusted)
  • Training across AM, PM, and mid shifts for full team support

What We’re Looking For

  • Veterinary Technician (CVT preferred) or highly experienced assistant
  • Previous leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred
  • Strong technical skills and confidence in patient care
  • Team-oriented mindset with a passion for growth and development

Compensation & Benefits

  • $25–$28/hour (based on experience)
  • CE allowance: $500 per licensing period
  • Health insurance benefits
  • Free mental health benefit options
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Competitive PTO plan

If you’re ready to step into a leadership role where you can truly shape a team and make a difference in patient care—we’d love to connect.
