We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Oakwood Animal Hospital. As a vital part of our veterinary practice, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal welfare and be committed to delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers, "above and beyond" customer service attitude, and efficiently multitask. Experience with AVImark Veterinary Software is a plus. Technician duties include but are not limited to: Client education, venipuncture, catheterization, and proper restraint, plus patient monitoring, surgery and much more!
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including animal restraint, surgery, and laboratory tests
- Provide exceptional pet care
- Conduct animal husbandry tasks, including cleaning cages and maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Operate veterinary equipment, such as X-ray machines, and perform routine lab tests
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment
- Collaborate with veterinarians to develop and implement patient care plans
- Participate in assisting with routine veterinary procedures
- Provide veterinary critical care, including monitoring patients and administering medications as needed
Qualifications:
- CVT, LVT, or RVT - Preffered
- Have experience in animal care and handling
- Familiarity with animal restraint techniques
- Proven knowledge of veterinary laboratory procedures
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to lift, stand, and sit for extended periods
- Willingness to work flexible hours - No weekends!
- Strong passion for animal welfare and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients
Skills:
- Proficiency in veterinary critical care
- Experience with laboratory tests and procedures
- Experience with animal restraint techniques
- Familiarity with pet care and the ability to provide exceptional care to our patients
- Strong understanding of veterinary procedures and protocols and surgical procedures
- Experience with X-ray machines and routine lab tests
- Certification or Licensing as a veterinary technician
- Experience with veterinary technician duties and responsibilities
