O’Connor Road Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to step into a Medical Director role at our well-established, multi-doctor practice in San Antonio, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a collaborative team while continuing to practice high-quality medicine in a supportive and well-equipped environment. We are a busy, full-service small animal hospital offering primary care, surgeries, and limited urgent care. Our team is passionate about preventative medicine, client education, and delivering excellent patient care.


Your Role as Medical Director:

  • Partner closely with the Hospital Manager to lead hospital operations and team development
  • Mentor and support a team of 3 full-time veterinarians
  • Set and uphold medical standards of care
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented culture
  • Maintain a strong clinical presence with a strong interest in soft tissue surgeries preferred
  • Estimated time allocation: 90% clinical, 10% administrative/leadership responsibilities
  • Schedule: 4 days per week and rotating 1/2 Saturdays

  • 7 exam rooms, dedicated surgery suite, treatment and isolation areas
  • Full dental suite
  • In-house diagnostics (Idexx Catalyst & ProCyte, SNAP testing)
  • Digital radiography and dental x-ray
  • Ultrasound capabilities
  • Modern anesthesia and patient monitoring equipment
  • Established relationships for advanced surgical procedures
  • Avimark practice management software
