GL Accounting Supervisor, NVA


National Veterinary Associates (NVA™) is the largest private owner of freestanding veterinary hospitals in the United States. As a member of the Finance / Accounting Team, the Accounting Supervisor is primarily responsible for performing various accounting functions, reconciliation analysis, and other ad-hoc tasks to support the management and other senior members of the team.


Job Description:

  • Supervise and develop a team of two accountants.
  • Oversee accrual accounting, balance sheet accounts, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Review month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Provide guidance, problem resolution, and mentoring to accounting staff.
  • Support preparation of annual audit schedules and respond to external auditor requests.
  • Manage and improve interdepartmental processes related to general ledger accounting.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and accounting projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance.
  • 5+ years of accounting or related experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or direct-report management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, indirect functions, and PivotTables.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize complex financial matters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, MBA, or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in both private and public accounting environments.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to proactively resolve issues.
  • Experience supporting multiple business units or legal entities with varying accounting requirements.

Compensation" 
FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried
Base Salary: $108,000-148,500
Annual Incentive Plan: 15%
