Job Summary

The Associate Veterinary Hospital Manager is a co-leader and integral member of the hospital management team. In partnership with the Hospital Manager and Managing Veterinarian, this role supports smooth and profitable operations by helping drive revenue, managing costs, and fostering a culture of high-quality patient care and exceptional client service.

This role supports the management, planning, and coordination of hospital operations while cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in a management role, including customer service responsibilities
  • Experience in a veterinary or hospital setting preferred
  • Knowledge of multi-functional operations, including budgeting and labor management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Planning

  • Act as a champion for change by identifying, documenting, and promoting best practices
  • Participate in planning and budget maintenance
  • Help establish practice and staff goals
  • Create hospital schedules and manage labor costs in alignment with budget

Operations

  • Support employee benefits programs and hospital insurance plans
  • Help implement hospital policies, including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA compliance
  • Perform quality checks and review client files
  • Coordinate with HelpDesk to resolve technical issues

People Management

  • Partner with the Managing Veterinarian on staffing needs including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Support performance-based incentive, rewards, and recognition programs
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and team support

Client Service

  • Model and reinforce exceptional client service standards
  • Resolve client concerns and escalations with strong follow-through
  • Support front desk operations as needed
  • Help drive client engagement through communication and local community involvement

Financials

  • Ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Assist with accounts receivable, cash handling, and invoice audits
  • Support inventory management and cost control efforts
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support hospital performance

Additional Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of management experience, including customer service
  • Experience in veterinary, healthcare, retail, or service-based environments is a plus
