About the Role

I-20 Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, confident in their technical skills, and comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

The Overnight Veterinary Technician will help care for hospitalized, emergency, and post-operative patients while supporting the doctors and medical team throughout the night.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor hospitalized and emergency patients overnight.
  • Assist doctors with exams, treatments, and emergency cases.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Obtain and record TPRs, pain scores, appetite, bathroom habits, and patient status.
  • Assist with blood draws, IV catheters, fluid pumps, and sample collection.
  • Run in-house lab work and prepare samples for outside labs.
  • Assist with radiographs, patient positioning, and radiation safety.
  • Help with surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment notes.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Communicate patient updates clearly with doctors and team members.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary technician or experienced veterinary assistant experience required.
  • Emergency, overnight, or high-volume hospital experience preferred.
  • Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments.
  • Experience with medications, patient monitoring, lab work, radiographs, and basic nursing care.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and notify the doctor quickly.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work overnight shifts.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred but not required.
