Veterinary Surgery Technician

Gregg Animal Hospital | Part-Time | 20-30 hours per Week

Gregg Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced, confident Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our team in a specialized, surgery-focused role.

This position is ideal for a veterinary technician who loves surgery, is highly organized, has strong anesthesia and surgical skills, and enjoys teaching others. Rather than splitting your time between appointments and general technician duties, your primary focus will be surgery, anesthesia, patient monitoring, surgical preparation, and helping our team continue to grow their technical skills.

What You’ll Do

·Serve as the primary technician for scheduled surgical procedures

·Prepare surgical patients and surgical suites

·Assist the veterinarian during surgical procedures

·Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients

·Perform anesthetic monitoring and maintain accurate anesthesia records

·Place IV catheters and administer medications as directed

·Properly prepare, handle, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments

·Monitor patients closely throughout the perioperative period

·Ensure surgical protocols, safety procedures, and patient-care standards are followed

·Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient surgery area

·Help identify opportunities to improve our surgical and anesthesia processes

·Train and mentor other technicians and assistants in surgery, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and surgical protocols

·Provide hands-on coaching and constructive feedback to help team members build confidence and competency

·Help establish consistency in how our team prepares, monitors, and cares for surgical patients

·Work closely with our veterinarians and hospital manager to ensure excellent patient care and efficient surgical days

What We’re Looking For

·Licensed/credentialed veterinary technician preferred, but highly experienced veterinary technicians will be considered

·Strong hands-on experience with surgery and anesthesia

·Confident with anesthetic monitoring and patient recovery

·Comfortable working independently and anticipating the needs of the veterinarian

·Excellent attention to detail

·Organized, dependable, and calm under pressure

·Strong communication skills

·A positive, team-oriented attitude

·Enjoys teaching and mentoring others

·Willingness to hold team members accountable to proper surgical and patient-care standards

·Someone who takes pride in doing things correctly and wants to help others become better technicians

Schedule

20-30 hours per week, primarily focused on surgical days.

This is a specialized surgery position, not a traditional rotating technician position. We are looking for someone who wants to make surgery their primary focus while also helping develop the skills of our growing team.
