Veterinary Receptionist

Location: Chesapeake, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Schedule: Full time employment at 30 hours per week or more
Pay: $15-$18/hr based on experience

We are a compassionate, client-focused veterinary practice dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets and outstanding service to their families. We are looking for a friendly, dependable Veterinary Receptionist to join our team and help create a welcoming experience for every client and patient.

About the Role

The Veterinary Receptionist is often the first and last point of contact for our clients. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, professional, and comfortable working in a busy veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and their pets warmly and professionally
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and respond to client questions
  • Check clients in and out and process payments accurately
  • Maintain accurate patient and client records
  • Communicate appointment instructions, estimates, and follow-up information
  • Coordinate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other team members
  • Handle prescription and food requests according to practice protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
  • Assist with client communication by phone, email, and in person
  • Provide compassionate support to clients during routine visits and difficult situations
  • Perform other administrative and customer-service duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary reception, veterinary, medical, or customer-service experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn veterinary practice-management software
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine love and respect for animals is essential
