About Us:
We are a small animal veterinary hospital dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality medical care for dogs and cats. We offer comprehensive care from wellness and vaccinations to boarding, surgery and advance diagnostic imaging. We have a fast paced hospital with 3 full time doctors open 6 days a week.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team. Being punctual, dedicated and caring are necessary. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will provide essential support to our veterinarians, helping to ensure the health and comfort of our animal patients. Your role will include a combination of clinical and administrative tasks, as well as interacting with clients and animals.
Responsibilities:
• Assist veterinarians during exams, surgeries, and procedures
• Prepare and maintain medical instruments, equipment, and exam rooms
• Administer vaccines, medications, and treatments as prescribed
• Monitor and record patient vital signs
• Handle and restrain animals during examinations or treatments
• Maintain accurate patient records and update client files
• Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans and follow-up care
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and medications
• Provide compassionate care to animals and educate clients on animal health
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (Further schooling as a veterinary technician is a plus)
• Previous experience as a veterinary assistant, technician, or in a related role (preferred, but not required)
• Knowledge of animal care and handling techniques
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work well in a team and in high-pressure situations
• Physical stamina to lift and restrain animals as needed
• A compassionate attitude and a love for animals
