Oak Animal Hospital is a growing, client-focused veterinary practice dedicated to providing high-quality medical care while fostering a supportive, collaborative team environment. We are seeking an experienced Lead Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to help guide our technician team, support doctors, and elevate patient care standards.

Position Overview

The Lead RVT plays a dual role of clinical excellence and team leadership. This position supports daily operations, mentors technical staff, ensures compliance with best practices, and works closely with management and veterinarians to maintain efficient workflows and exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Support

  • Lead, mentor, and support RVTs and veterinary assistants

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing skill development

  • Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture

  • Act as a clinical resource and role model on the floor

Clinical Duties

  • Perform advanced nursing skills including anesthesia monitoring, catheter placement, radiology, laboratory procedures, and dental cleanings

  • Oversee patient care from intake through discharge

  • Ensure accurate medical records and client communication

  • Uphold high standards for patient safety and comfort

Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce hospital protocols, safety standards, and regulatory compliance

  • Assist with inventory management, equipment maintenance, and controlled drug logs

  • Collaborate with leadership on workflow improvements and quality control

Qualifications

  • Active RVT/LVT/CVT license in California

  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical veterinary experience

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong anesthesia, dentistry, and technical skills

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment
