St. George Veterinary Hospital

Progressive medicine. Hands-on learning. A desert destination that delivers.

St. George Veterinary Hospital is a strong fit for students who want exposure to both solid general practice and integrative treatment options you won’t see everywhere. The team practices progressive companion animal medicine, including regenerative therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapy, giving externs a broader view of how modern veterinary care is evolving.

This is a hospital for students who want to understand not just how to treat patients — but why multiple approaches matter.

Why St. George Veterinary Hospital?

  • Exposure to integrative and regenerative medicine, including PRP and stem cell therapy

  • A full-service companion animal practice with a diverse, real-world caseload

  • Hands-on involvement in diagnostics, treatment planning, and case management

  • A supportive team that values learning, curiosity, and clinical growth

What You’ll Be Exposed To

St. George Veterinary Hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and wellness services. Clinical exposure includes:

  • Preventive and wellness care

  • Dentistry services

  • Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery

  • Advanced diagnostics and treatment planning

  • Cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, urology, and reproductive services

  • Regenerative medicine, including PRP and stem cell therapy

Externs are encouraged to ask questions, participate in decision-making, and build confidence across a wide range of cases.

How You’ll Spend Your Time

Externs participate in patient histories, physical exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, surgical observation or assistance, dentistry services, and medical case management. You’ll also sharpen communication skills by working closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.

Externship experiences typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of school or class year, are encouraged to apply.

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel and living expense stipend, in accordance with program guidelines.
