Core Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care: Take vital signs, collect blood or tissue samples, and give medications.
  • Surgery Support: Prep surgical tools, induce and monitor anesthesia, and track patient recovery.
  • Laboratory Work: Run in-house blood work, fecal exams, and urinalysis.
  • Client Communication: Explain at-home care, medication schedules, and dietary needs to pet owners. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Earn an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited veterinary technology program.
  • Licensing: Pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and hold an active state license.
  • Skills: Handle animals safely, use medical software, and work well in high-stress environments
