Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare and the ability to handle various breeds and sizes of pets. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff.

Duties

  • Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
  • Assist in administering medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
  • Ensure all animals are properly restrained during handling to ensure safety.
  • Support the overall operations of the kennel by assisting with check-ins and check-outs of pets.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and any observed changes in behavior or health.
  • Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets’ well-being.

Experience

  • Previous experience in animal care or veterinary settings is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and basic health monitoring.
  • Familiarity with animal anatomy and restraint techniques is beneficial.
  • Experience as a veterinary technician or in veterinary critical care is a plus.
  • Strong skills in animal handling and the ability to work with various species and temperaments.
