Teamwork & Hospital Support

  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff.

  • Be willing to rotate between treatment and exam room responsibilities based on hospital needs.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked work areas.

  • Communicate patient concerns and important information promptly and accurately.

  • Take initiative, anticipate team needs, and assist fellow team members during busy periods.

  • Help maintain an efficient, supportive, and compassionate hospital environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous hands-on veterinary clinical experience required.

  • Proficiency in venipuncture (blood draws) required, including the ability to safely and efficiently obtain blood samples from dogs and cats.

  • Strong knowledge of veterinary patient care, clinical procedures, and medical terminology.

  • Confidence and proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint techniques.

  • Experience with laboratory sample collection, processing, and diagnostic testing.

  • Familiarity with surgical preparation, patient monitoring, and treatment procedures.

  • Working knowledge of veterinary vaccines, preventatives, and routine wellness care.

  • Ability to obtain accurate patient histories efficiently and communicate important information to the medical team.

  • Strong verbal communication and client education skills.

  • Excellent organization, multitasking, and time-management abilities.

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in a fast-paced hospital environment.

  • Willingness to assist in both treatment and exam room settings as needed.

  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to teamwork and exceptional patient care.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry patients weighing up to 50 pounds independently and assist with lifting heavier patients, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Veterinary technician registration is not required for this position. All clinical responsibilities must be performed under the appropriate veterinary supervision and within the scope permitted by Maryland law.
