Veterinary Technician Assistant

City Centre Animal Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team! We are currently hiring for a temporary position to cover a maternity leave, with an expected duration of 1 year and the potential to transition into a permanent role. Weekend availability is a must. Key Responsibilities:
-Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures.

-Restrain animals safely and humanely during examinations and treatments.

- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.

- Maintain accurate patient records and update client information in the system

-Provide compassionate care to animals and excellent service to pet owners.
- Greet and check-in clients and their pets in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar
- Answer phone calls, emails, and other inquiries from clients
- Collect and update client information in the database
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various tasks as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and treatment rooms

-Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.

Experience:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital is an asset
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and common pet medications is beneficial
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
